Purbeck Nordic Walking Festival HUB and General Info

14th - 16th September 2018

HUB and General Info

In 2018 we moved our event to a unique and exclusive new HUB in a stunning location just outside Corfe Castle. This beautiful location has brilliant transport links from Wareham and Swanage (Road, Bus and Steam train), free parking and stunning views and we are delighted to be going back in 2019

However it’s biggest benefit by far if that there are so many amazing walks directly from the Hub and Corfe Castle. There’s also space for multiple workshops and a presentation marquee plus retail stalls and lots of delicious catering options form dawn till dusk. In 2018, we introduced a music stage to ensure the social side of things did not disappoint and it was a huge success! Watch this space for a bigger and better show in 2019 and do NOT miss out!

We will still have a mini HUB (see below) in Swanage and there will be the same amount of walks and workshops as before so it’s still a great place to stay and feel part of things. In 2018 we also operated a bespoke stem train back to Swanage and Corfe after the Saturday night feast and if we get enough bookings we will do likewise in 2019 too. What better way to get back to Swanage after a few Ciders and boogie around the braziers!

We work hard to make sure we create a magical experience for everybody and the 2019 will once again, be 100% managed by the NWUK Festival Team (apart from the challenges). Tell us what you want and we will listen!

New for 2019 – Bespoke Group booking programmes – Speak to the Team about a pre set programme for groups of 10 or more plus a FREE place for the organiser.

What’s on at the Hub?

The HUB is where we hold presentations, demos and workshops as well as start a lot of walks.

It is where you come to register (and pick up your goodie bag etc.) and get to mingle with other Nordic Walkers as you enjoy browsing the NWUK store and sampling lovely Dorset fayre!

Stalls confirmed so far are:

This year we will also have a FRIDAY NIGHT Supper at the HUB (one of several amazing Friday Night Supper walks see below) which will ensure lots of carbs for those attending the challenges who will also be able to attend a workshop with tips for the gruelling distance events the next day!

On Saturday we will have the PURPLEBECK SPECTACULAR event with a choice of brilliant food options, a bar and live music all set in our tranquil and unique rustic HUB.

OTHER SOCIAL EVENTS

The whole festival is one big social event with cream Tea walks and other themed extravaganzas but watch out for the FRIDAY NIGHT SUPPER walks which are a perfect way to get straight into the spirit wherever you may be staying.

We want you to enjoy the hospitality for the areas so we have pre-booked places at some of the most iconic locations!

These include:-

Paella on the Beach at Joes Café
Pasta Party for the challenge participants
Arne Campfire Supper
More to come – watch this space

The Mini Hubs

Thanks to our amazing Partners in and round Purbeck we also have several mini HUBs where we will have a dedicated event host to meet and greet you, provide info and check you into your walks and workshops.

Durlston Country Park

One of the most stunning Country Parks in the UK this park encompasses part of the South west Coastal Path and features everything from cliff top lighthouses and rocky paths to tranquil meadows and ancient woodland.

There is also a Visitor Centre and café which are perfect after the workout walks which are a strong favourite at this location.

Swanage Sand Pit fields in partnership with Tpow

Our sea front HUB in busy bustling and beautiful Swanage.

This is where the challenges finish and where we host many of our Swanage walks and workshops.

RSPB Arne

As part of a much wider partnership with the RSPB which gives NWUK and local Instructors exclusive access to parts of this famous reserve (featured on BBC Autumn watch and Countryfile).

We will have a mini HUB to help us co-ordinate the huge range of walks and activities which will include special Ranger lead walks and a Campfire Supper on the Friday night.
